This Essex Landscapes page contains ten landscape images from different parts of Essex. Many people forget, or don’t realise, that Essex has miles of lovely countryside.

Essex Landscapes, Alphabetic A to E

• The first image is a panoramic image of Abberton Reservoir. The view is over the reservoir into the sun with a tree and wind turbines silhouetted.
• Battlesbridge is shown at lunchtime early in January, looking across to the weir and water mill
• Castle Park in Colchester is image three. Captured in spring, there are lovely reflections in the River Colne
• Danbury Lakes is a good place to go for a walk. There are two lakes which are photogenic at most times of the year
• East Hanningfield has a reservoir. The sun is setting on a November afternoon in the image shown. We are at the back of the reservoir The tree branch leads the eye over to where the smoke rises from a bonfire.

Essex Landscapes, Alphabetic R to W

• The new A130 is the feature of the next image. You can tell that because of the back of the road sign! The trees are starting to show their autumn colours and All Saints Church is at the top of the image.
• A tree frames the half timbered houses at Saffron Waldon. The houses run along the path. On the right, out of shot, is the church.
• Terling has a ford. I travelled there to photograph it and I did. It wasn’t as photogenic as the church though.
• The large cornfield is in Toot Hill. It is a lovely image, but the phone line spoils it. The “depth of field” technique places the oak leaves out of focus to keep the cottage in focus
• Autumn is arriving at Writtle village green. Fallen leaves are scattered over the grass.
