Mike’s Garden 2017
This year I have enjoyed working in my garden. From adding the organic matter I created in the re-cycling bins last year, through to planting, pruning and harvesting. Now I have to start re-cycling again!
Using the camera
Using the camera to capture images of the garden is also a joyful and fulfilling experience. I particularly remember waiting for the morning sun to move around the corner of the house to light up the tall sunflowers. It’s been good to try different angles and approaches out.
Harvesting
Raspberries have cropped well this year and runner beans have been prolific. Blackberries have been good, and whilst marrows have been mediocre we have had a great crop of potatoes. I have been eating sweet corn for a few weeks now and the plants are about “as high as an elephant’s eye”, just as in Oklahoma!The hanging baskets and flower pouches have done well and added lots of colour around the place.
Sunflowers
Sunflowers have been prolific too. I grew great tall ones over 12 feet high, little 2’6″ ones which continue to grow new heads and 5′ high ones with small tight flower heads, I really like the sunflowers.
