On the first of May I took a sojourn in Suffolk. Bures and Bures St. Mary, separated by the River Stour we the first places visited. Two images of the river are shown below. Both are from near the bridge over the river. Firstly, an image has nice reflections of a multi-stemmed tree whereas the second image has deep blue coloured water coming down the straight, canal like part of the river. Imagine being able to sit on the deckchairs by the river in the summer!

Thatched cottage up the hill

Following the road to Sudbury I glimpsed a thatched cottage up a hill in the distance. I turned up Wyatt Lane, more a track really and climber a hill. From the top of the hill there is an absolutely stunning view across the valley. One of the clearly stunning panoramic shots from the top of the hill is shown. In addition this shot has the cotton wool clouds travelling by. Finally at this location I came down the hill and stopped opposite the thatched cottage before travelling on. The view from the cottage must be a particularly stunning one.

Melford Hall

Melford Hall in Long Melford was the next stop on my sojourn in Suffolk. Visiting the park was all we could do before partaking of a well earned coffee and scone! The turrets are lovely here and I also capture a curved wall leading away from the front of the house. Find out more about Melford Hall by clicking here.

Clare and Clare Castle

Finally, I ended up at Clare Castle and climbed the mound to the top. Importantly, I arrived just as a rainbow emerged from the clouds, showing both of its ends. Absolutely brilliant! Especially lucky to be in the right place at the right time. From the top of the mound you can also see the station without a railway (rainbow again visible) and get a good view of the town. In Clare I captured an image of a house emblazoned with a lot of pargetting.

On the way home I stopped in Cavendish and captured images of the half timbered cottages and the pond. A great afternoon out!
