Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes. Each can each move us in different ways depending upon our mood or depending upon exactly what we are looking for in the image.
- A landscape can pick out the snow capped mountains or the peaceful pastoral scene like those of a Constable painting. It can be dramatic with the shape of the land or the weather providing the drama for us. It is be worth spending a whilst composing just the right shot
- A sunset can make you want to look and look at the image and want to be at the place where it was captured. An amazing variety of different types of sunset exist, depending upon the weather conditions
- The sea can of course be placid, moody or forcefully dramatic. The constant movement of the waves can mesmerise the viewer and a still photograph capture the too and fro movement very well. The white spray shooting up as the waves crash into the rocks conveys an image of the power of the sea and the shapes of the rocks which have been eroded over the millennia offer both interest to the viewer and a testament to that power
- The city can provide different challenges to the photographer. Not the least of these is capturing an image without getting run over. Typically, motor vehicles offer this danger, however cyclists also make this offer to you in the Netherlands! The city can be busy and vibrant with “canyons of concrete and steel” (John Denver song). Cities can be lonely and deserted by night, offering the opportunity of moody images. Movement can offer opportunities and night-time images of vehicles lights traversing a road make excellent images
