Walking around the streets of Dublin is an interesting occupation. There is lots to see. One of the images in this collection shows Abbey Court, which is a hostel on Inns Quay overlooking the Liffey. Crossing the Liffey
The halfpenny bridge spans the Liffey with a wonderfully graceful arch of white painted wrought iron. They used to charge you half a penny (in old money) to cross it! The bridge is lit at night and makes lovely colourful images in the dark. When you cross to the south side of the Liffey by the halfpenny bridge you can go straight into a little passageway. Firstly from the passageway you can enter a pub under one of the ubiquitous Guinness signs. The passageway has a quaint “olde worlde” feel to it and it subsequently leads to other shopping streets.
The statue of Molly Malone is not too far away. Molly Malone is a fictional character who “wheeled her wheelbarrow through the streets broad and narrow” as the song goes. The statue is obviously visited by lots of people!
St Stephens Green is definitely worth a visit whilst walking the streets of Dublin. This park contains two nice lakes and it must be great to stroll around there in summer. It also contrasts with the bustling streets of Dublin. in addition there are swans to feed!
