Colourful Hyde Hall – June 2018. These images were captured on the late morning of the 15th June 2018. The images are presented in the sequence of the walk round the gardens.
On the way up the hill
Image 1304 is a lovely curved bed of lavender near the entrance to the gardens
A purple rose is image 1323. I have this one in my garden, its called Rosa Rhapsody in blue ‘fantasia’. There are several of these in the gardens and this one is located near the gazebo overlooking the walk from the entrance
Image 1312 is Rhapsody in blue, with lavender in the background
Staying with the colour purple, image 1358 is a poppy from the dry garden at Hyde Hall. you can see the nectar on the petals. This is the first time I have seen a purple poppy
At the top of the hill
We move on to the pond in front of the house at Hyde Hall for image 1377. The clear water allows us both to see the underwater plants and the reflections of the clouds in the sky. The triangle of clear water bounded by the reflections and the lily pads which lead our eye over to the grassy bank opposite
Fiery red plants on the bank of the pond form a startling part of image 1387
The layers of green, dark red and then white before the bridge and then the vertical reeds behind the bridge almost remove the bridge from our eye in image 1394
Roses on ropes. Image 1436 shows white roses trained along the ropes in the rose walk. Again purple lavender is in the beds at ground level
Separated into different bays by hedges, with a separate theme in each bay the rose garden is a colourful delight. Image 1485 highlights the bay is the brightest of the colours.
We are back to the pond in image 1517. Captured from ground level, we see the lily pads vertical shoots from plants living in the water and multi-coloured reflections in the water. The red flowers from image 1387 are also visible on the bank in the background
On the way down the hill
The newly planted area at the bottom of the hill is a nice fusion of the colours green red and yellow in image 1593. This was as I made my way out of the garden
