Introduction to Classic Paris

Tourists visiting Paris have to see the Classic Paris sights. The Eiffel Tower, Le Sacré-Cœur, L’Arc De Triomphe, Notre Dame, the Seine and its bridges, Port Alexander III in particular, Le Place de Bastille and The Place du Terte. For great images of these sites you have to add the Tour Montparnasse to this list. The Tour Montparnasse is not in itself photogenic and no images of it are included here. However it is the place to capture great images of the other Paris monuments. This is the website of the Tour Montparnasse

The Arc de Triomphe

L’Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile stands at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle. Place de l’Étoile was the name of this location, because the boulevards leave the monument in a star shape. One image captures from the Place Du Concorde and it reflects the hustle and bustle of the Champs-Élysées. The second image of this monument is from the top of the Tour Montparnasse.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought-iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, it is named after Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built it for the 1889 world fair. The shots are included, one from Le place de la Concorde with the Egyptian obelisk in the foreground and the Tower in the background. A second image is the classic of classic Paris shots of the Eiffel Tower from the Palais de Chaillot with the Ecole Militaire in the background. The third image is another captured from the top of the Tour Montparnasse. This one is the reverse of shot two, however it shows the spans of both the Palais de Chaillot and the Ecole Militaire. The height of the Tour Montparnasse allows this appreciattion.

Sacré-Cœur and Montmartre

The basilica of Sacré-Cœur is on one of the highest points in the city. We have the classic view from the bottom of the hill on Rue St Pierre. The Height of the Tour Montparnasse provides the second view, slightly marred by the Stade de France and the high rise blocks in the background.

Montmartre is famous for its artistes and the Place Du Tetre is busy at most hours. Here we see an artist at work mid-way through what appears to be a family portrait.

Place de la Bastille

Citizens of Paris breached the notorious Bastille Prison during the French Revolution of 1792. This monument to liberty was inaugurated in 1840. The gilded figure atop the monument is Auguste Dumont’s Génie de la Liberté brandishing a torch of civilisation and the remains of his broken chains. Pont Alexander III and the River Seine

From the top of the Tour Montparnasse we can see the four golden winged horses on the towers of Pont Alexander III. Pont Alexander III is the most extravagant bridge in the city. To show friendship between France and Russia, the bridge was is dedicated to Tsar Alexander III . It has candelabras, cherubs, nymphs, winged horses, and a multiplicity of sculptures.

There are many bridges in Paris and a romantic song to go with them! We see Notre Dame from the Pont de la Concorde. The remains of the Cathedreal, bridges and four bateaux-mouche plying their way through the water
