The power of the sea

In this image of Ramsgate from January 2018 the power of the sea is clearly shown . The massive plume of water shaped by the motion of the waves completely dwarfs the harbour wall.

The image is one of a burst of five which catches the progression of the water. From a large wave, through to the hook shaped plume over the sea wall. The plume then becomes a dense cloud of water in the air, which is the aftermath of the event. For the photographer this is definitely an example of being in the right place at the right time! You will forgiven for thinking that there are people walking along the harbour wall as the wave approached, however what appears as people are containers of some kind. I didn’t go down to check!

In terms of colour, the power unleashed here is churning up the sand and making the water brown and so the image appears almost as if it is a sepia one. Ramsgate is on the English Channel coast of England in the county of Kent. It’s a nice place to visit.
