Autumn colours

The leaves turn from green to yellow or going straight to an orangy brown. As the song has it, “The Autumn leaves are turning to the colour of her hair!” From Windmills of your mind sung by Noel Harrison. You have to be old to remember this song!

The image from Bolsover in Derbyshire, is captured from the ramparts of the castle. It uses a super zoom lens to bring the trees and houses close together. Trees surround the row of houses. The leaves on the trees vary in their shades of colour.

Hylands Park in Chelmsford is the location of the second image. It is a close up of oak leaves from a tree in one of the vast open spaces in the park. The leaves next to each other are green, yellow and brown colours.

The final image is from Danbury Lakes near Chelmsford. The lakes offer lovely colours and the calm waters have created complex reflection patterns. Too complex for a jigsaw!

There were lovely autumn colours in Colchester yesterday. I spent an hour in Castle Park walking along the side of the River Colne capturing some lovely images. Image 236 is just above the weir where the river bends. Reflecting in the water are the golden leaves still clinging to the branches. Image 263 is again by the river. It reveals a bend with the bank on an angle and a rusty field of fallen leaves. The Willow in image 297 droops to the water and on the other side of the Colne more golden leaves reflect in the water.

Away from the water, image 337 shows that one tree has turned golden by the footpath. Bare branches of multi-stemmed trees that have already dropped their leaves reflect in the pool further down the Colne in image 346. A flock of seagulls that was sitting on the lake was disturbed. They took off as I was capturing another image of the pool. I managed one or two shots of them (363).
